This form calculates Location and Orientation tolerances. The formulas are valid for all types of features, including flat mating surfaces, and will give a zero-interference/zero-clearance fit when features are at their maximum material condition (MMC) with their locations in the extreme of positional tolerance. [see ASME Y14.5-1994, paragraph B1]

Floating Fastener Case:
TOL1 = min(ULSIZE1,LLSIZE1) - max(ULSIZE3,LLSIZE3)
TOL2 = min(ULSIZE2,LLSIZE2) - max(ULSIZE3,LLSIZE3)

The virtual condition of an internal feature is equal to the maximum material condition (MMC) minus its applicable tolerance of location. Since the virtual conditions are equal to the maximum material condition of the fastener, 100% interchangeability is ensured.

Part 1 size limits: ULSIZE1 inches, LLSIZE1 inches
Part 2 size limits: ULSIZE2 inches, LLSIZE2 inches

Next, enter the size limits of a shaft or pin (see ANSI B.4.1).
For bolts or screws enter the nominal size in any cell and zero in the other.

Part 3 size limits: ULSIZE3 inches, LLSIZE3 inches
